Hey women! Come and learn new ways to socialize, improve your skills, and learn how to take great care of yourself! Activities will include preparing and cooking meals, games, and time to relax. We will be going outdoors to explore Camp Bliss and do some fishing for those who want to fish. What to bring: warm clothing, medications, and anything else you will need for the weekend. You must have your fishing license to fish.

Cost: $75.00 for the weekend. If you bring your own PCA, there is an additional charge of $35.00. The PCA will also need to register separately for this retreat.

The fee includes: lodging, fishing/supplies, and all meals/beverages. Massages are offered for an additional $30.00 per ½ hour and must be booked in advance.

If you are currently a consumer of Independent Lifestyles, transportation to and from Camp Bliss is offered from our Sauk Rapids location for an additional cost of $15.00. Otherwise, you are responsible for your own transportation.

Come and experience an amazing weekend fishing for crappies, pike, perch, bass, northerns, and sunfish. We offer something for everyone! We welcome anyone with any type of disability. We want everyone to enjoy just being outside, the excitement of catching a fish, and being able to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Gold Star Weekend 2019

We invite families of military fallen from all wars (Iraq, Afghanistan, Desert Storm, Vietnam, Korea, WWII and conflicts in-between) to be our guests for an amazing weekend planned exclusively for you and your family at Camp Bliss, Walker, MN.  You will have time to share your stories with fellow Gold Star Families, relax and laugh together and make wonderful new friends. The way you spend your time is up to you! 

Numerous activities including canoeing, fishing, nature walks, paddle boarding, kayaking, biking and hiking, and too many more to list.

Cost is $100 per family for the weekend and includes lodging and all meals. The weekend is limited to a total of 25 people including children.

August 24-26, 2020

Come and learn new ways to socialize, improve your skills, and learn how to take great care of yourself! Activities will include self-care and wellness, games, and time to relax. We will be going outdoors to explore Camp Bliss and do some fishing for those who want to fish.

What to bring: warm clothing, medications, towels, personal water bottle and anything else you will need for the weekend. You must have your fishing license to fish.
Cost: $75.00 for the weekend. If you bring your own PCA, there is an additional charge of $35.00. The PCA will also need to register separately for this retreat.
The fee includes: lodging, fishing/supplies, and all meals/beverages.

If you are currently a consumer of Independent Lifestyles, transportation to and from Camp Bliss is offered from our Sauk Rapids location for an additional cost of $15.00.
Otherwise you are responsible for your own transportation.

Fishing for Men with Disabilities 2020

September 11-13, 2020

Attention all guys! Come up north and find your FISH! Join us in enjoying the outdoors before it gets too cold. This weekend will be filled with fishing, hiking, bon fires, relaxation, and time with the guys!

Cost: $75.00 for the weekend, if you bring your own PCA, there is an additional charge of $35.00. The PCA will also need to register separately for this retreat.

Veterans Ice Fishing Tournament

January 14-16, 2022

On behalf of Camp Bliss we welcome you to our first Ice Fishing Tournament!  Join us on Minnesota’s third largest lake – Leech Lake for a fun experience in Walker!  This event, weather permitting, takes place on Saturday, January 15^th, from 10:00 am -6:00 pm. We will provide fish houses, bait and lunch!  All participants must be a Veteran and registered through Camp Bliss. We have limited fishing supplies, so please bring your favorite fishing rod or tip-up pole, if you don’t have one we will supply one.  $500 in prize money will be awarded, so join us for a fun weekend of fishing and camaraderie!  Friday night check-in, Saturday fishing, awards/bonfire & Sunday breakfast in our beautiful Lodge setting on three lakes!

On behalf of Camp Bliss we welcome you to our first Guided Fishing Tournament!  Join us on Minnesota’s third largest lake, Leech Lake, for a fun fishing experience in Walker, MN!  This event, will take place on Saturday, June 11^th, from 10:00 am -6:00 pm.

This is a guided fishing tournament on Leech Lake.  We will provide fish houses, bait and all meals!  All participants must be a Veteran and registered through Camp Bliss.  First time Veterans will be considered first.  There are 21 available spots for veterans that are first-come-first-serve, we will have a waiting list.  We have limited fishing supplies, so please bring your favorite fishing rod or tip-up pole, if you don’t have one we will supply one.

This is a guided fishing tournament on Leech Lake.  We will provide fish houses, bait and all meals!    All participants must be a Veteran and registered through Camp Bliss.  First time Veterans will be considered first.  There are 21 available spots for veterans that are first-come-first-serve, we will have a waiting list.  We have limited fishing supplies, so please bring your favorite fishing rod or tip-up pole, if you don’t have one we will supply one.

Because there’s not a registration fee, you will be required to submit your DD214 (Member 4) and Driver’s license or state ID.  If a spouse is attending and has a different last name, you will be required to show proof of marriage before you are considered “registered.”  Once you are committed to attending your retreat, there are limited spots for each one and if you do not show up, that is a Veteran’s spot that you have eliminated.

Enjoy the beauty of 48 acres of incredible pine and hardwood forest in breathtaking north woods setting on three beautiful lakes! We bring families together to enjoy quality time connecting and bonding with other military families who have gone through the same experiences.  

Families will spend time enjoying a variety of fun and exciting activities and to have the opportunity to experience a place specifically designated to them! You will become part of a community of military families and make memories that last a lifetime!

There are 20 total available spots for veterans and families (children 10-18 years old only) that are on a first-come-first serve basis, we will have a waiting list. Join us for a fun weekend Getaway of fishing and camaraderie! It is our 3^rd Annual Guided Fishing Tournament on Leech Lake, Minnesota’s third largest lake in Walker, MN. This event will take place on Saturday, September 28^th, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

This is a guided fishing tournament on Leech Lake. We will provide boats, fishing equipment, bait, and all meals! All participants must be a Veteran and be registered through Camp Bliss. There are 21 available spots for veterans that are first-come-first serve basis and we also will have a waiting list. Please commit fully to attending your retreat, if you do not show up, that is a Veteran’s spot that you have eliminated. We have limited fishing supplies, so please bring your favorite fishing rod or tip-up pole, if you do not have one, we will supply one.

$500 in prizes will be awarded! Friday night check-in, Saturday fishing, awards and bonfire and Sunday breakfast in our beautiful Lodge setting on three lakes!

November 15-17, 2024

Come and learn new ways to socialize, improve your skills, and learn how to take great care of yourself! This retreat welcomes anyone with any type of disability. 

The total cost for the weekend is $75, if you bring your own PCA, there’s an additional charge of $50, and the PCA will need to register separately for this retreat.

This retreat includes lodging, all meals, beverages, and class materials.

What to bring: weather appropriate clothing, medications, blanket, pillow, towels, personal water bottle and anything else you will need for the weekend. 

Transportation to and from Camp Bliss is offered from our Sauk Rapids location for an additional charge of $20. Otherwise, you are responsible for your own transportation.

Veterans welcome to our annual Turkey Hunt!  All hunters are required to have a valid Minnesota turkey license and will be partnered with a volunteer caller.  You will stay at Camp Bliss where all your lodging and meals are provided.
